A grinder is a device for grinding medicinal herbs. Grinders are usually made of plastic or wood, higher quality models are made of metal or ceramic. They consist of two round discs that have small wedges or blades on the sides. The material to be shredded is placed in the cavity that is formed between the two halves when they are joined together. The material is crushed by turning in the opposite direction. Some grinders also have a compartment for storing ground material.
